Please help to stop the killing

Eight days later than usual, but still arriving, this year's seasonal cetaceans killing has begun at Taiji with about 50 pilot whales and 100 bottlenose dolphins being driven into the cove this morning as of 10 Sep 2009.

Taiji's fisherman plan to catch about 2,400 dolphins during this season, as well as pilot whales, neither of which are protected by the International Whaling Commission's ban on whaling. Upwards of 22,000 dolphins, porpoises, pilot whales and false killer whales are taken each hunting season.

Despite how heartbreaking it is to see dolphins killed like this, the kicker of this whole situation is that the meat is sold to a population of people who are for the most part completely unaware that it is laden with mercury (the dolphin meat served in Japan has as much as 5000 times more mercury than allowed by Japanese laws), and mostly unaware that it is dolphin in the first place since the dolphin meat is often labeled simply as "whale meat" in order to fetch a higher price. So not only are the fishermen killing thousands of intelligent animals in a horrific manner, they're also slowly killing people. A sad situation all around.

Please help to stop the killing by signing on the petition

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/3/stop-the-dolphin-slaughter

I love meat but this is one meat I will not take

Damn! I am feeling guilty of eating whale meat once in Japan. Now I am suffering from a heavy heart as I am typing here. I love sashimi and meat but I really cannot bear the thought of eating dolphin meat. Especially after watching 'The Cove'. Some people will think that it is nothing wrong about killing dolphin since we also kill other animal for their meat but what's the point of killing dolphin when their meat is high in mercury and consuming their meat will end up killing us. Demand and supply theory again, if no one consume dolphin, they will stop killing dolphin.

The BIG Mayonnaise Jar

Something interesting to ponder over....was send to me by others.

When things in your life seem, Almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class

And had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again
If the jar was full... They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand

And poured it into the jar.. Of course, the sand filled up everything
else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded
With an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced Two cups of coffee from under the table
And poured the entire contents Into the jar, effectively
Filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, As the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life..
The golf balls are the important things - God, family,
children, health, friends, and favorite passions ?

Things that if everything else was lost

And only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter Like your job, house, and
car.

The sand is everything else --
The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life..

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are
Important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things That are critical to your happiness.
Playwith your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time
To clean the house and fix the disposal.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter..
Set your priorities.. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand
And inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Been having some mental block and been kind of feeling low for the past few months but the mind block is being removed after reading this:

It has been foretold that everything happen for a cause so why do we fear when we have the love of God and He is standing with us.

May our fear be banish and whatever will come, should come.

Injustice

My dad once told me that this world is not fair as some people are born rich while others are poor, some are healthy and some die young. There are many injustice in this world that are cause by men too and recent Myanmar's Suu Kyi charged over US intruder is one of them. It dawn on me that without God, what will happened to this injustice?

Let's continue to pray for these silent sufferer.

Thoughts of the day....my life could be worst off as a pig

Have you ever wonder what life will be if you are born in some other parts of the world? Maybe this could be you or me?

What if I am that poor girl or the family members?

Or just maybe...I am born a pig instead? Opps....some innocent pigs are being slaughter in Cairo.

Guess I have to be Thankful and count my blessings to be born and raise in Singapore.

Sometime all these news just make me so upset....and make me wan to hide

but since I am given a better chance and choice than others...I better do something good to deserve this life...been trying for that multiplier for a few months now but not sure how well did it go...maybe no one is passing the message but at least I am doing something.

Hmmm....time to find more encouraging verse.

Signs & symptoms of Influence A (T1C1)

Just like the seasonal flu, Influence A (T1C1) infection in humans can vary in severity from mild to severe. Signs and symptoms of Influenca A (T1C1) infection may include the following:

§ High behavior

§ Happy

§ Joyous

§ Crazy action

§ Talkative

§ Clumsy

§ Misplace things

§ Smile alot

See your family member if you have any of the above symptoms. Seek immediate family attention if you experience the following warning signs:

§ Breathing deeply

§ Confuse with words

§ Persistent blur in action

§ Sudden forgetfulness

§ Complicate in talking and thinking @ the same time

Influence A (T1C1) infection can be serious and non life threatening. Sotong action from hypertension and ridicules action have been reported with severe Influence A (T1C1) infection.

Treatment

There are antiviral medications available to treat and/or prevent Influence A (T1C1) infection. Anti-viral medications such as boredom (Bitingnails®) or rudness (Barkatppl®) are recommended for the treatment of Influence A (T1C1) infection. These medications, when taken early in the course of infection (within 2 days of the appearance of symptoms) may:

§ reduce the severity of the infection with faster recovery from the illness.

§ prevent serious sotong complications.

Prevention

One of the ways to protect against Influence A (T1C1) infection is to prevent its spread. Since the illness occurs through direct contact with Sotong Chay and consumption of sotong and other sea creatures, it is important to practise good personal distance or prevent consumption of sotong. Take these everyday steps to protect your health:
1. Close Your brain cell and Mouth

o With a open heart when you talk or in contact with Sotong Chay.

2. Wash Your Brain

o Regularly and thoroughly with patience and kindness.

o Before and after talking to Sotong

o After going to the movie or KTV with Sotong

o Before and after eating Sotong

o After arguing with Sotong

o After using your brain when talking to Sotong

3. Contain the Spread of Flu

o Use a prayer of Thanks

o Do not share unhappy thoughts

o Avoid thinking with your brain but with your heart.

o If you have sotong symptoms, avoid crowded areas and wear a fish tank head gear.

o Stay at home or go to work with a empty head.

o See your family member if you have flu-like symptoms and if you have recently in contact with Sotong Chay or consume sotong with cases of Influence A (T1C1) flu.

Everyone was meant to share God's all abiding love and care; He saw that we will need a shoulder to lean on....so God make friends for you and me.

Do you believe in miracle? I see it everyday in every breath I take, in every steps I take, the air, the sun and best of all....the friends I have.

No words can describe the thankful heart I have to God for your birth my friend thus I will keep you in my prayers always.

You have once asked me why bad things happened to good people, although my answers to you might not be the best but I would still like to say:

'There will be days which are great and everything goes as planned. There will be other days when we aren't sure why we got out of bed. Regardless of which day it is, we can be assured that God takes care of them and all our daily needs.'

'Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to an all-knowing God.'

And as for Today, on this Special Day..."May God's richest blessings be upon you both today and throughout the year...and may those blessings flow through you to touch the lives of everyone you meet and share just like what you have done for me, my friend."

Hope you like the music I have choosen as part of your gift.

In God's love...Amen!

Remember the begining...

My galfriend jus share with me that she is having another argument with her boyfriend and how tired she is... always the one giving in and saying sorry though she is not in the wrong.

I know it is hard but maybe...jus maybe it is best to remember the begining, how you feel for each other at the begining...and I guess it will be easier for both of you...don't forget it's a long journey and how bless to be walking the path not alone.

Amazing Journey

It's almost a month and I have not been blogging. Been busy with work and school's assignment. Hope everyone is fine with their own blessing. Manage to catch up with some friends recently as we are gathered together once again becos of a long lost friend that's been away for almost 2 years. It's wonderful to see them again and how we are able to maintain this friendship for more than 10 years. Life is full of gathering and parting, it's amazing how things turn out and may God continue to bless and keep them safe always.

Like to share with all one of my fav song and may you find peace and love in your life journey. To all those that have left, I'll love you all and with God's love till we meet again.

Journey by Corrinne May

It's a long long journey
Till I know where I'm supposed to be
It's a long long journey
And I don't know if I can believe
When shadows fall and block my eyes
I am lost and know that I must hide
It's a long long journey
Till I find my way home to you

Many days I've spent
Drifting on through empty shores
Wondering what's my purpose
Wondering how to make me strong

I know I will falter
I know I will cry
I know you'll be standing by my side
It's a long long journey
And I need to be close to you

Sometimes it feels no one understands
I don't even know why
I do the things I do
When pride builds me up till I can't see my soul
Will you break down these walls and pull me through

Cause it's a long long journey
Till I feel that I am worth the price
You paid for me on Calvary
Beneath those stormy skies

When Satan mocks and friends turn to foes
It feels like everything is out to make me lose control
Cause it's a long long journey
Till I find my way home to you
To you

Love Dedication to all mums and daughters

Love does not demand its own way..it is letting you go even though it breaks my heart....

Fly Away by Corrinne May

"When will you be home?" she asks
as we watch the planes take off
We both know we have no clear answer to where my dreams may lead
She's watched me as i crawled and stumbled
As a child, she was my world
And now to let me go, I know she bleeds
and yet she says to me

You can fly so high
Keep your gaze upon the sky
I'll be prayin every step along the way
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away

Autumn leaves fell into spring time and
SIlver-painted hair
Daddy called one evening saying
"We need you. Please come back"
When I saw her laying in her bed
Fragile as a child
Pale just like an angel taking flight
I held her as I cried

You can fly so high
Keep your gaze upon the sky
I'll be prayin every step along the way
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away
ohh...
I love you too much to make you stay
Baby fly away

Season of Love

It's amazing how so many people celebrate Valentine Day and Christmas Day but not knowing the origin of it but the message of love link to these date was celebrated by all.

Valentine Day is a day to remember Saint Valentine a Roman priest martyred during the reign of Claudius II, known as Claudius Gothicus. He was arrested and imprisoned upon being caught marrying Christian couples and otherwise aiding Christians who were at the time being persecuted by Claudius in Rome. Helping Christians at this time was considered a crime. Claudius took a liking to this prisoner -- until Valentinus tried to convert the Emperor -- whereupon this priest was condemned to death. He was beaten with clubs and stoned; when that didn't finish him, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate

Guess not much people really cares what's the true meaning behind this all but it is indeed a day to celebrate love but what is the defination of love to you?

Did a quick check on merriam-webster and here are the results:

1: strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties
2: warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion
3: the object of attachment, devotion, or admiration
4: unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another
5: a god or personification of love

For the season of love, I will like to share a verse from the Bible 1 Corinthians 13 verse 4 to 7:

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

May true love be bless upon you and your love ones.

Took a free ride this afternoon thinking that I can make the same trip to mall but I was wrong. Unknowingly, this free bus is going to another location which I ended taking a train back to office and cost me more time and money.

便宜末贪...and this is so true. If I have not taken the free ride, I would not have ended up in a unknown place. This is a cheap lesson compare to others.

Are you bias?

I always hate it when my aunt says that 中国婆… why are they so bias about people from China, aren’t we from china too?

Yet I was guilty of that…I am indeed bias about some people as well. No matter how hard I try, I just could not bring myself to like some people and this is also an act of bias. I am so guilty of that when I come to think about it and I really feel bad.

How can I change this feeling towards them? I know this is my challenge for this year and God want me to learn how to be more tolerance.

Tolerance is not just an act of plain endurance of endless nagging and turn around to complaint about it…it is about learning to accept those actions are an act of kindness or love. The true kindness one can give to another consists of loving people more than they deserve and indeed I have a long way to learn from Jesus and truly appreciate the true meaning of love and kindness.

The first month jus flew past

Wow...I can't believe it. Jan is over and this is 2nd week of Feb. Guess it is even faster for most of us chinese who celebrate Chinese New Year (CNY). I thought I could do some reading before my new term starts during CNY but I am running out of time. Too little time with too much stuff.

Have you ever look back or have some flash back of some people in your life that you hardly keep in contact? Wonder how are they doing....hmmm. Just a thought especially during CNY season when we do visiting to friends and relative. The who and who always were mentioned and no one seems to know what happened to them....anyway well wishes to them since they are thought of.

With best regards to all!

Multiplier Effect

Recent Studies in economic mention that goverment spending and investment are able to trigger other GDP factors like creating more job thus up consumption and eventually bring up the GDP.

This set me thinking how about kindness and happiness? Can the ripple effect work? Like the multiplier, if we can spread some kindness and share our happiness to others, will it work like the multiplier? Hmm....I am really curious and will like to see some result. So starting from next monday, I will be sending sms messages to friends and hopefully they can forward those messages and keep the blessing going.

So for all those reading this blog by chance, please do not delete my SMS and try to forward it. In this recession period, everyone is feeling unease and it's time for a pat on the shoulder with some words of encouragement or action of concern.

Stay fun and healthy and keep the message going!

Faith

It was a busy month for me therefore please pandon me for lack of updating in my blog....err....maybe no one reads it (realize that most of my close friends do not have time to write blogs so dont even need to mention reading my blog). Oh well....anyway just in case there is someone reading and following my blog...thanks and may you find peace, love and faith in this new year.

A quick update on me...I am still having my exams, last paper will be on the 17Jan so hopefully I can get to blog more and write something challenging for our mind. By doing this, I get to organize my thoughts and at the same time able to do more research to revalidate my faith, increasing my faithfulness.

Definition of Faith

1. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
2. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. See Synonyms at belief, trust.
3. Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters.

Someone once said that it was blind faith for one to believe in religion. It might be true for most case but not for Christians. Faith in Christianity can be based on evidence therefore it is reasonable faith. From my recent readings of McDowell, he mentions that the Christian faith is faith in Christ. Its value or worth is not in the one believing but in the One believed, not in the one trusting but in the One trusted.

Although many Muslims or Buddhists are more dedicated and show more faith than some Christians but it does not matter how much faith you have but rather who is the object of your faith that is very important from the Christian perspective of faith.

New year with new purpose

Thomas Aquinas once wrote, "There is within every soul a thirst for happiness and meaning." I was once lost without aim in life and always ask myself...Is that all? Whenever I get something that I wanted badly, I am excited and happy for a moment and I asked myself...is that all? Why can't this happiness last? I wanted to be happy and to find meaning for my life.

I start to read more, to gain more knowledge, look at people that I thought was successful and look glamour. I read about them, their life bibliography. They are human after all. They have grief, they have worries, they have problems too so how much can they teach me?

I have forgotten God's existance although He was with me all the time...and I only go to Him when I have a problem. Being a born christian (Born in a christian family), I have been to Sunday School, raise with bible stories but I always forgot about God when I am doing fine. Only when I have problems, I will go back to Him.

For how many times or how long....I have already lost count that I am doing this until one day...like I have finally woke up from a bad dream and remember Him, my God, my Lord who never leave me or ditch me. He was that Father waiting for his lost son and He is always there waiting for me.

When you seek God and willing to believe in Him, it is amazing to see things you have not seen before and feel like you have never before. The evidence of Jesus Christ is the Son of God is so shockingly true for those who seek after the truth. However, not all and people who are like the old me, simply unwilling to believe even when the truth is put right before us.

I was afraid of changing my way of life, I was self-centred, I was afraid to change. This year 2009, I am turning 33 come October and this is also the age of Christ when he die willingly on the cross for my sin. Nothing in this world is bigger than Christ's when he die on the cross for each and everyone of us. So what is a little changes in my lifestyle compare to His sacrifice.

Since life begin at 33 when Jesus Christ die for my sin, I must begin my life again too at 33. Living by His foot steps, to serve and help those around.

With this I pray for God's strength, wisdom and guidance, Amen!
